Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but vulnerable characters, is one of the most well-known American actors of today. Born to a famous playwright father, but was raised by a single mom who worked by working as a nurse. She became interested in theatre while working with her father during the summer and eventually pursuing a degree in acting initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. After just two short years following graduation she began her Broadway-based career. In the following year, she made her debut in the world of film and television. In the years since, she's been in many films, TV productions and stage shows. Throughout her professional career, she's received several awards. Some of them comprise 2 Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. Though she was awarded numerous prizes throughout her career, theatre has always been her first passion.
